High school and uni can be some of the most fun years of your life – but also some of the most challenging! There are classes to attend, homework to do, extracurricular activities, tests and exams to study for, family obligations and social lives to maintain. There are times when all of this can become overwhelming and difficult to cope with. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, but it’s easier if you have tools to take care of your mental health.
Join Penny to discuss burnout: what it is, how to recognise the signs, how to avoid it and how to recover.

OUR SPECIAL GUEST FOR THIS CLASS:
Penny is a high school teacher who has been around the block a few times, and then once more just for the fun of it. Before settling down to do her best imitation of an adult she travelled the world working with families and spent a year taming tomatoes and training as an organic market gardener. She has a Bachelor of Humanities from UCT and post grad qualifications in kindergarten and high school teaching and spends her days mucking about with teenagers creating theatre and studying what makes a really good story.
Her areas of care as a mentor focus mainly on learning to take care of mental health, relationship building and offering coaching in a way that supports teens to tap into their own wisdom. She is also an ambassador for atypical humans and an advocate for autism awareness.
