Teenagers are arguably the most misunderstood species on the planet today. The average teenager is described by adults with attributes such as moody, impulsive, risk taker, and likely to yield to peer pressure. Although there are elements of truth in these, the descriptions often stem from a place of little or no knowledge about the significant changes happening in the human brain during adolescence. Sadly, many teenagers are also in a state of confusion as to why they act the way they do sometimes. Drawing from evidence based work in the field of Neuroscience and Psychology and adapted to a teenage audience, this class will explore the adolescent brain in the context of learning, stress, addiction and decision making.

IN THIS CLASS:

  1. Gain a basic understanding of the science of the teenage brain and the important changes happening in their brain this period.
  2. Identify tools for managing negative emotions and cultivating positive ones.
  3. Understand the unique strengths of the teenage brain.
