YOUR FACILITATOR:
Sabine McKenzie founded Core Confidence in 2016 to bring positive body esteem to young people.
In response to her personal experience with an eating disorder, poor body image and a controlling inner critic, Sabine introduced preventative education to schools and communities. After 3 years of running in-person workshops, school-based lessons and longer term courses, she developed the 6 Week Body Esteem Program Resource for Educators, Teen Group Facilitators and Youth Mentors. Combining her knowledge, degree, lived experience and ongoing study to form this program which uses evidence-based strategies to build self esteem in young people. Throughout her recovery, Sabine struggled with feelings of isolation and remained unsure as to whether full recovery (a healthy relationship with food, exercise and body image) was possible. Sabine has drawn on these experiences (and relevant training) to develop Core Confidence’s Peer Mentoring service. Hoping to decrease the feelings of hopelessness and loneliness for those choosing recovery.
Sabine is a qualified physiotherapist, youth mentor, pilates instructor, wellness coach and has completed further specialised training and education in the management of eating disorders by ACFED (Australian Centre for Eating Disorders), Perth Children’s Hospital and The Butterfly Foundation.
